Privacy Policy

Plant Compass Lite is a sunlight compass that helps you place plants by the light in your home. We collect the minimum data the app needs to work. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps or websites.
What we handle, and why
Account email (only if you sign in). Sign-in is optional. If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address to create and access your account, via our backend provider Supabase. It is used only to identify your account, not for marketing.
Photos (only when you use Photo ID). If you submit a photo to identify a plant, the image is sent through our server to Pl@ntNet, a third-party plant-identification service, solely to return a result. We do not store your photos; the image is used only to service that request.
Location (only if you grant it). Location is optional and used only on your device to calculate the sun's path for your area. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Your plant list. The plants you add are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Purchases. The optional one-time unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment information.
Analytics. We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used (for example, that a plant was added or the compass was opened) so we can improve it. This includes a random app and user identifier and basic interaction events. It is not linked to advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We may also capture anonymized session replays (recordings of taps, navigation, and scrolling) via Mixpanel Session Replay; all on-screen text and form inputs are masked, so information you type (such as your email or sign-in code) is not captured.
Third-party services
- Supabase: authentication and account storage (your email), if you sign in.
- Pl@ntNet: plant identification from photos you submit.
- Apple: App Store purchases.
- Mixpanel: privacy-friendly product analytics (usage events, a random identifier, and masked session replays).
These providers process data only as described above. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Data retention
We keep your account email only while your account exists. We do not retain submitted photos or any location data. Your plant list stays on your device until you remove it or delete the app.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account anytime in the app: Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and associated data from our backend. You may also contact us to request access to, or deletion of, your data.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
